Do You Approach the Bible Wrong?

How do you really approach the Bible? What if you approached the Bible expecting God to speak to you? Not as if it is a reading assignment, or something you know you ought to do, or even thinking that you might simply learn something. The result of those types of mindset is not life change. It is not the result that God wants for your life or what you should desire.

Instead, what if you opened the Word of God knowing full well that it is alive and active? What if you yearned deep down in your soul to soak these Words of life into your mind and heart? God wants to speak directly to you. He wants you to take His Words and allow them to transform your mind. He wants to reveal more of Himself and His attributes to you. God wants to open your eyes to what truly matters and what life is really about…His love.

Henry Blackaby said, “It is impossible to worship God and remain unchanged.” You cannot be in the presence of God, glorifying Him, interacting with His Word and remain the same. God will renew your mind, speak to your heart, make you more like Christ. Think about that…you can wait till your time on earth is finished to be made fully like Christ or you can begin the process now. You will not reach perfection in this life, but you can begin to experience true life in Christ that transforms you from the inside out.

That is what I want. I don’t want to wait until the end of my life to start focusing on what is important. I don’t want to look back in regret that I wasted such precious time here on earth. Start today by opening the Bible, forgetting about everything else, expecting God to speak to you. Take a pen, pencil, highlighter and mark it up as God reveals anything and everything. There is no better way to spend your time!
