What is God Calling You to Do?
I always struggle with the question…am I doing what God wants or I am sticking with what is comfortable? Because what I have come to realize is that sometimes the only thing stopping you from doing what God desires to do in your life is a leap of faith. A commitment to trust God. A stepping out of the boat moment. Let me explain what I mean.
The Bible is full of examples of men and women stepping out in faith to do what they knew God was calling them to do. Noah building the ark. Moses confronting Pharaoh. Rahab hiding the spies. Esther persuading King Xerxes. Daniel facing the lion’s den for his faith. Paul preaching while in prison. Each of these people, who we admire now, stepped out of their comfort zone in a way where if God didn’t provide, they would look like a failure, a fool, or even forfeit their life. Even with all that at stake, they continued in obedience and God worked in a way they could have never imagined.
Sadly, it is easy to hear these stories and nod our head, but it’s difficult to live it out. We say, “Yeah, God showed up and honored their faith, but what if that doesn’t happen for me? My situation is different.” So, what do we do? We live in our comfort zone. We stay in the safe lane. We do what is most convenient.
I have a strong feeling that many people live their entire lives without truly stepping out in faith. Not only are they limiting their growth, because we really can’t grow without our faith being stretched, but we miss out on what God wants to do all around us. God desires to do more in and through your life than you can even imagine. Movements need to be sparked. Ministries need to be started. Businesses need to be created. Conversations need to take place. Podcasts need to be recorded. Books need to be written. People’s lives need to be impacted. God hasn’t run out of ideas, He is just looking for people who are willing to step out in faith.
What is God calling you to do? What is it that God has strongly put on your heart that you have yet to act on? Make the decision to take one step towards that today and trust God to do a miracle with your mustard seed of faith.
